    The tool is wrapped in a user-friendly interface where you can load a DVD folder or IFO file by using either the tree view or file browser ("drag and drop" is not supported).

    In the file queue you can check out the name along with the original and trimmed length (if you want to cut clips) of the DVD video. If you want to leave settings unaltered, then you can immediately initialize the encoding procedure by specifying an output profile and directory.

    Otherwise, you are free to tinker with the audio and video settings in regard to the resolution, zoom mode, bit rate, channel mode and volume level. It is not possible to create output profiles or to restore settings to their standard values.

    Furthermore, you can select the audio track and subtitle language, as well as preview clips in a built-in media player and capture frames (as BMP). But you can also merge videos or trim them by marking the start and end position or time values, make image adjustments (e.g. contrast, saturation) and apply filters (grayscale, negative).

    The video conversion software uses a moderate amount of system resources to finish a task quickly. It has a good response time and manages to preserve a fair image and sound quality. We have not come across any errors throughout our tests and Nidesoft DVD to iPod Converter did not freeze or crash.

    However, there is no help file available and you cannot set the tool to turn off the computer or to close the application after encoding. Plus, there is no "Settings" area where you can change the snapshot format and directory, or customize the number of CPU cores to be used.
