    Following a speedy setup operation that shouldn't give you any trouble, you're welcomed by a simple interface whose appearance reminds us of older Windows. The steps are basic: select the DVD drive, ask the tool to read contents, then pick an output format, quality and saving directory to start the ripping operation.

    In addition to ripping DVD movies, the application is capable of converting local files. Batch processing is supported, so multiple videos can be added to the task list to convert them in bulk. It's unclear which filetypes are supported for local video conversions but we've noticed that it works with the popular formats. Entire folders can be selected to convert all supported video files within.

    The progress bar acts as an indicator for each converted video (not the entire batch). Once all videos are converted, DVD to MP4 automatically opens their location in Windows Explorer so you can inspect results. As far as other settings are concerned, you can turn the sound reminder on and off.

    Conversion jobs were carried out in decent time in our evaluation, during which the utility remained low on system resources usage. Video quality loss was minimal.

    Taking everything into account, DVD to MP4 is a free, speedy and easy-to-use application that can help you rip DVDs and convert the movies (including local video files) to other video formats. It worked smoothly on the latest Windows version in our evaluation.
