    The setup process requires your attention, as there are a few settings you have to take the time to configure, including the server authentication details, the web server connection parameters, used ports, and so on. SQL Server must be installed on your computer so as to link ApexSQL BI Monitor to a database. Optionally, you can create a new server account during installation.

    ApexSQL BI Monitor is started in the default web browser, providing a web-based interface for managing all the services. It enables you to add analysis, reporting and integration services for any server instance your computer is running. All the services can be then monitored via the centralized dashboard.

    The application can monitor various performance metrics for each service category: storage capabilities for the SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services), data migration operations for the SSIS (integration services) and Windows and Web services for the SSRS (reporting services).

    ApexSQL BI Monitor features a real-time alerting system that can let administrators know as soon as a performance parameter is off for any of the monitored server instances.

    Additionally, detailed reports can be generated for custom time ranges, containing information regarding the SQL services, the pending and the resolved alerts. In other words, ApexSQL BI Monitor can report about the health of the target SQL Server instances or just the running services.
